Kit Hall

Makeup Artist

I've always loved the theatre, dance and fashion, but it still took a while for me to reach my dream profession of make-up artist.

I actually have a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Portsmouth University and spent a couple of years working in IT before realising I craved something more creative. During a chance opportunity of a shoot for B Magazine I saw a make-up artist at work and became bitten by the bug - weeks afterwards I enrolled on a media makeup course at the London College of Fashion.

I was lucky enough to be booked for make-up jobs almost instantly and became immersed in both TV and print with regular work for MTV, Granada, The Sun and Sugar Magazine - and haven't looked back since!

My unconventional business background has definitely helped me establish myself as a successful freelancer and I've been able to broaden my scope so I am equally as experienced on a film set, at a fashion show, doing bridal make-up or working with a glossy magazine.

I have now been a make-up artist for over eight years and my CV spans all areas of the industry and I have worked with a host of celebrities. I've am also the author of three books, published by Back Stage Books, Period Makeup, Period Hairstyles and Pro Make-up. Make-up is not only exciting and creative, but has an amazingly empowering quality. It gives me a constant thrill to be able to help women change their perception of themselves and to become anything they want to be.
